Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Apply colour to artwork

  1. Colours are applied to artwork according to brief specifications
  2. Colour and objects are appraised to ensure overall balance and emphasis, and adjustments made as required
  3. Any halftones are matched with similar colours according to brief specifications
  4. Overall artwork is appraised to ensure best possible colour options are used, given the brief and other elements of the artwork, and changes are made if necessary
  5. Artwork samples that effectively meet the brief are produced
  6. Artwork is saved and prepared for presentation to client

Evidence of the ability to:

produce artwork with a sophisticated use of colour demonstrating a fundamental understanding of colour theory

find and use information relevant to the task from a variety of information sources.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain reducing colour for compression process

describe influence of target audience responses to colour

describe colour attributes and their application to design briefs

identify browser safe colours

list colour models applied to design briefs.
