Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Assess job step

  1. Job step is identified using business workflow tools
  2. Current step is compared against any baselines set for the job
  3. Number of steps and iterations are identified and any corrective action undertaken if necessary
  4. Actions within each step are logical to the step
  5. Resources required for current and future steps are identified, and availability confirmed

Evidence of the ability to:

assign job identifier and set up baselines for production and budget estimation

identify job steps, actions and resource requirements

evaluate job progress against baselines and quality standards and report on possible improvements.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain what baselines are and how they are set

summarise the production workflow

explain how to conduct a job assessment

summarise techniques used for scheduling and resource allocation.
