Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Evidence of the ability to:

produce a comprehensive business case information and communications technology (ICT) project implementation approach that takes into account core technology limitations and project constraints

establish and work in a cohesive project team.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain the characteristics of leadership and technical teams

describe the consultation and communication techniques, styles and strategies, including interviewing techniques required when managing a project

describe estimation and cost analysis techniques

explain the process of establishing technical teams and determining stages of team development

describe the process of setting objectives and conducting a benefits analysis

identify the organisational values, policies and processes that are applicable to the project

describe performance management and project team appraisal methods

identify and describe the processes for monitoring team and own performance

explain cash flow and how it is managed through budgeting

describe a range of project management methods and tools, and how they apply in a formal project management methodology

explain the proposed systems analysis and modelling techniques

summarise the process of determining team roles, and describe the delegation process within a multi-project methodology context

explain the proposed technology solution models and frameworks.
