Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

NWPNET021 - Install metering equipment

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan and prepare work

  1. Conduct risk assessment for environmental safety.
  2. Determine work requirements and work site from specifications or instructions.
  3. Prepare work plans using relevant plans, drawings, standards and technical data according to job and safety requirements.
  4. Select and use electrical safety equipment.
  5. Check coordination issues, including permission to access third-party sites, isolations and permits to work with relevant personnel.
  6. Identify, check and prepare materials, equipment and resources required to satisfy job plan.
  7. Identify basic metering equipment and recognise specifications for operation.
  8. Select safety equipment and fit and use personal protective equipment.
