Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, and must be able to provide evidence that they can:

operating packaging and wrapping product systems, at least twice in line with required enterprise intervals

undertake preparations to package product

identify causes and effects of packaging equipment or system faults and takes corrective action

identify and monitor process control points when packaging product

use mechanical handling and loading equipment to lift, carry and set down loads

use electronic and other control systems to control equipment to package product

communicate effectively and work safely with others, in the work area when undertaking packaging.

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

workplace documentation and procedures relevant to packaging procedures and responsibilities, in the pulp and paper industry and covering:
