Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

PSPRAD002 - Work safely with radioactive ores and minerals

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Identify hazards and associated risks with the site and assigned tasks

  1. Interpret and apply information about hazards, where necessary requesting further information on radiation protection safety standards, codes and guidelines.
  2. Implement instructions about site radiation control measures, monitoring, safe working rules and personal protective equipment (PPE) specified for the location and work activities.
  3. Recognise hazards and risks in work area prior to starting work, at regular intervals during work, and in response to changes in working conditions and seek advice if necessary.
  4. Recognise and report non-routine hazards and seek advice to deal with any situation beyond own technical competence.
