Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan and prepare for supporting shotfiring

  1. Access, interpret and apply blasting documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  2. Obtain, confirm and apply shotfiring requirements, shift briefings, handover details and/or work orders before proceeding
  3. Access, interpret and apply environmental, geological and survey data
  4. Identify, manage and report all potential hazards risks and environmental issues
  5. Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the work activities
  6. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
  7. Undertake coordination requirements with others prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
