Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

RIICRC306D - Conduct earthworks

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan and prepare work to conduct earthworks

  1. Access, interpret and apply earthworks operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  2. Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  3. Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
  4. Select and wear correct personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  5. Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage requirements
  6. Survey the work area for ease of access and movement of materials safely
  7. Correctly identify compaction standards and testing requirements
  8. Select and check for faults all plant, tools and equipment to carry out tasks
