The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?
Determine the vessel's stress and stability for all stages of the voyage
Stability calculations and weight distribution planning is conducted at a time, frequency and scope appropriate to the proposed nature of the voyage or operation Completed |
Evidence:
Weight distribution is designed to maintain the vessel within acceptable stability and stress limits for all stages of the voyage Completed |
Evidence:
Trim, draughts and list are adjusted as required to safely and efficiently progress all vessel operations Completed |
Evidence:
Stability and stress monitoring is conducted in time and scope relevant to the nature and speed of vessel operations, and sufficient enough to ensure that stress and stability remain within acceptable limits at all times Completed |
Evidence:
Action taken where weight distribution is compromising vessel safety, is prompt and designed to maximise safety Completed |
Evidence:
Tests and checks using computer-based stability programs or other appropriate methods are conducted at a frequency and scope that conform to manufacturer's instructions Completed |
