Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

TLID2021 - Use specialised bulk transfer equipment (dry)

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan work

  1. Job hazards are identified and required action is taken to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards
  2. Dangerous or hazardous (including regulated waste) or other materials requiring specialised handling are identified, and relevant workplace procedures are taken into account when planning work
  3. Traffic flow and work area conditions are assessed and anticipated to ensure safe operation and no injury to people or damage to equipment, loads, facilities or environment
  4. Load characteristics are taken into account when selecting method, equipment and appropriate attachments to transfer load, as required
  5. Potential occurrences in work area that may affect the safety and efficiency of operations are reported to appropriate personnel
  6. Bulk transfer of dry materials is planned, taking into account load requirements, transfer method, storage facility and transport mode, load weight, dimensions, and equipment capacity
  7. Required personal safety equipment, signage, barriers and special precautions are identified in plan and utilised
  8. Procedures to deal with spills, leakages and ruptures are identified
  9. Customer requests for variation to agreed operations are actioned within scope of authority or referred to appropriate personnel
