Unit Description

Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).

Elements describe the essential outcomes

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions section

1. Prepare for the job

1.1 Workplace procedures are identified

1.2 Vehicle to be tested is positioned and secured to prevent injury or damage

1.3 Vehicle fuel and lubricant levels are checked

1.4 Driver safety items are checked according to workplace procedures to ensure they are functional and suitable to vehicle specifications

1.5 Temporary registration plates are fitted

1.6 Pre-inspection checklist is completed

2. Test vehicle performance

2.1 Vehicle is secured on chassis dynamometer for testing, if applicable

2.2 Vehicle is driven and tested on-road according to state road regulations

2.3 Vehicle is tested under load conditions

2.4 Adjustments are made if necessary during on-road tests

3. Respond to faults

3.1 Vehicle performance test reports are completed, with faults recorded and reported to appropriate personnel

3.2 Vehicle quarantine procedures are implemented to ensure faulty vehicles are not returned to customer

3.3 Vehicle is placed in quarantine based on type of faults to be rectified

4. Rectify faults

4.1 Vehicle reports of performance test results are used to identify faults

4.2 Tools and equipment are selected and used to conduct rectification

4.3 Faults are rectified so that vehicle performs to manufacturer specifications and complies with roadworthy requirements

5. Complete work processes

5.1 Vehicle is retested to ensure faults have been rectified and vehicle performs to manufacturer specifications

5.2 Compliance and vehicle identification plates are fitted, if applicable

5.3 Final inspection and dispatch form are completed and submitted to appropriate personnel

5.4 Job rectification report is completed
