PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes of a unit of competency

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the required skills and knowledge section and the range statement. Assessment of performance is to be consistent with the evidence guide.

Plan and prepare

Work instructions and operational details are obtained using relevant information , confirmed and applied for planning and preparation purposes.

Safety (OHS) requirements are followed in accordance with safety plans and policies.

Signage and barricade requirements are identified and implemented.

Plant, tools and equipment selected to carry out tasks are consistent with the requirements of the job, checked for serviceability and any faults are rectified or reported prior to commencement.

Materials quantity requirements are calculated in accordance with plans, specifications and quality requirements .

Materials appropriate to the work application are identified, obtained, prepared, safely handled and located ready for use.

Environmental requirements are identified for the project in accordance with environmental plans and regulatory obligations and applied.

Erect and strip simple formwork.

Subgrade is prepared.

Formwork design is identified from drawings.

Formwork is erected safely on commencement.

Form release agent is applied to erected formwork where specified.

Timber components are de-nailed following stripping of formwork.

Components are cleaned, stacked and stored for reuse or bundled for removal.

Formwork components are removed from site.

Place and tie reinforcement.

Reinforcing components are handled and positioned safely.

Reinforcing bars and mesh are positioned.

Bar chairs and spacers are positioned, with minimum edge cover.

Place concrete

Formwork or excavation is cleaned of excess material and debris prior to concrete placement.

Concrete is safely transported by wheelbarrow.

Pump line/chute is controlled and concrete placed.

Concrete is placed in formwork to specified depth.

Concrete is screeded to the alignment of formwork and project specified datums.

Surface of concrete is finished in accordance with specifications.

Clean up.

Work area is cleared and materials disposed of, reused or recycled in accordance with legislation, regulations and codes of practice and job specification.

Plant, tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and standard work practices.
