Unit Description

Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).

1Identify network requirements.

1.1 Applicable provisions of legislative and organisational requirements relevant to configuring networked security systems are identified and complied with.

1.2 Assignment instructions and other relevant information is obtained and reviewed.

1.3 Installation specifications and configuration requirements are obtained and confirmed.

1.4 Equipment, cabling and connection requirements are identified and confirmed to be in accordance with installation documentation.

1.5 Proposed configurations are checked against the operational parameters and specifications of the networked security system.

2Configure network.

2.1 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues are identified and appropriate risk control measures implemented in accordance with organisational procedures.

2.2 Tools, equipment and testing devices are selected and checked for correct operation and safety.

2.3 Program parameters are identified and verified from security system design and existing infrastructure.

2.4 Appropriate software is installed and programmed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

2.5 Networked security system is configured in accordance with assignment instructions.

2.6 Networked security system is tested to determine correct configuration and operational capability.

3Inspect and test network.

3.1 Inspections are undertaken to ensure networked security system configuration is in accordance with assignment instructions and relevant standards.

3.2 Configuration faults or deficiencies are identified and documented in accordance with organisational procedures.

3.3 Notification of work completion is made in accordance with organisational procedures.

3.4 Work area is cleaned and restored in accordance with organisational procedures.

3.5 Waste is collected, treated and disposed of in accordance with organisational procedures.

3.6 Relevant records and reports are completed and securely maintained in accordance with organisational procedures.
