1.2 Clarification is assessed, where necessary, to ensure accuracy of requirements

2 Prepare for finishing task

2.1 Equipment, protective clothing and other necessary requirements are obtained and checked for serviceability

2.2 Hides, skins or leather to be finished are appropriately prepared

2.3 Coating/s to be applied are selected or obtained and mixed, where required, in accordance with workplace and suppliers instructions or procedures

3 Operate machines to finish hides, skins or leather, where applicable

3.1 All necessary settings and preparation for machineoperation are identified and assessed in accordance with specifications and workplace procedures

3.2 Machine operated safely in accordance with workplace standard operating procedures, and any malfunctions are reported

3.3 Hides, skins or leather are fed through or into the machine in the appropriate manner and in accordance with OHS practices

3.4 Hides, skins or leather are removed from machine, where required, using correct manual handling procedures

3.5 Hides, skins or leather are directed to correct area for next process or storage

3.6 Work area around the machine is cleaned and maintained to meet workplace and safety standards

4 Apply finishingcoats by hand, where applicable

4.1 Bottom, effect and top coats are applied manually in accordance with OHS practices and workplace procedures

4.2 Protective and other relevant safety equipment is used appropriately

4.3 Hides, skins or leather are directed to correct area drying process or storage

4.4 Equipment is cleaned and stored

5 Monitor product quality

5.1 Quality requirements for the hides, skins or leather are correctly identified and applied for all stages of the process

5.2 Quality is visually checked continuously to ensure standard is maintained

5.3 Any deviations from normal are recognised, isolated and reported

6 Dispose of waste materials

6.1 Waste is kept to a minimum through correct application of workplace procedures

6.2 Machine waste is disposed of in accordance with environmental and workplace procedures

7 Communicate process information

7.1 Records are completed

7.2 Information regarding production status and problems is accurately transferred between changes in shifts, where required

7.3 Documentation is maintained to expedite movement of the hides, skins and leather through the various phases of treatment
