Unit Description

an assessor resource that builds a framework for writing an assessment tool
Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).
Wiki Markup
mark up the unit in a wiki markup codes, ready to copy and paste into a wiki page. The output will work in most wikis but is designed to work particularly well as a Wikiversity learning project.

A form for students to assess thier current skill levels against each of the unit's performance criteria. Cut and paste into a web document or print and distribute in hard copy.
Moodle Outcomes

1 Organise for covering activities

1.1 Review job sheet to clearly identify all job requirements

1.2 Select appropriate type of plant and associated equipment for job requirement in order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of waste covering

1.3 Identify and obtain other tool and materials required to meet work requirements

1.4 Organise suitable cover material to ensure adequate stockpile is available on site for waste covering activities

1.5 Select and fit emergency and personal protective equipment in accordance with job requirements, manufacturers' specifications, company requirements and relevant legislation

1.6 Ensure operator holds appropriate licence in accordance with company requirements and other relevant legislation

1.7 Assess landfill cell to determine waste cover requirements

1.8 Identify and manage potential risks and hazards to job requirements in accordance with company requirements, OHS and other relevant legislation

1.9 Erect safety barriers and signage at work sites to ensure safety of surrounding personnel and public, in accordance with company requirements and relevant legislation

2 Perform routine checks on plant

2.1 Conduct a visual check of plant to pinpoint damage, leaks, obstructions, component wear or potential hazards

2.2 Test plant systems in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and company requirements

2.3 Conduct service checks to ensure water, oil, fuel, air pressure and greasing are maintained at appropriate levels in accordance with manufacturers' specifications

2.4 Check emergency and personal protective equipment to ensure correct operation

2.5 Check associated equipment to ensure its operational capacity is in accordance with manufacturers' specifications

3 Start and operate plant

3.1 Start and operate plant in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and company requirements

3.2 Operate or drive plant in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company requirements, road and traffic regulations and other relevant legislation

3.3 Maintain continuous observation of surrounding environment to identify and avoid or minimise potential hazards

3.4 Routinely monitor plant operation and gauges to determine operational functioning

3.5 Maintain clear communications with other relevant personnel

4 Cover waste

4.1 Cover waste safely and efficiently in designated area using appropriate covering method

4.2 Place an even and smooth cover over waste batter, in accordance with waste covering method, company requirements and relevant legislation

4.3 Ensure that waste covering method minimises cover erosion

4.4 Ensure that waste cover conforms to depth/thickness required, in accordance with company requirements and relevant legislation

4.5 Handle and place synthetic cover (when required) in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, company requirements and relevant legislation

4.6 Traverse cover repeatedly to ensure a smooth, tight, compacted surface

5 Shut down and secure plant

5.1 Complete shut-down procedures in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and company requirements

5.2 Park and/or store plant in a safe location to avoid damage to plant, obstruction of surrounding site activity, or unauthorised use

5.3 Carry out housekeeping to ensure cleanliness of plant and associated equipment

5.4 Conduct service checks to ensure water, oil, fuel, air pressure and greasing are maintained at appropriate levels in accordance with manufacturers' specifications

5.5 Report any plant or equipment faults or defects to relevant personnel

6 Document work activities

6.1 Document covering activities accurately and promptly and in accordance with company requirements and relevant legislation
