Unit Description

an assessor resource that builds a framework for writing an assessment tool
Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).
Wiki Markup
mark up the unit in a wiki markup codes, ready to copy and paste into a wiki page. The output will work in most wikis but is designed to work particularly well as a Wikiversity learning project.

1 Identify waste drivers

1.1 Identify main waste types within workplace

1.2 Investigate why the waste is being generated to identify the real cause or driver of waste

2 Identify opportunities to avoid waste at source or reduce the quantity of waste generated

2.1 Discuss waste driver and environmental and energy efficiency policies and procedures with interested parties to determine possible alternative processes, products or practices

2.2 Discuss impacts on waste with suppliers and customers to determine their input

2.3 Develop a list of actions or alternatives that could be implemented to avoid waste for each waste identified and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption

2.4 Apply the waste/resource management hierarchy in the evaluation of alternative options

2.5 Discuss alternatives with internal support personnel such as quality assurance, OHS, engineering, sales and marketing and purchasing

2.6 Ensure alternatives comply with corporate regulations and policies and applicable legislation

3 Evaluate alternatives identified

3.1 Prioritise alternatives in order of greatest waste avoidance potential and most appropriate environmental energy efficiency methods

3.2 Undertake cost-benefit and feasibility analyses of alternatives

3.3 Identify any alternative with associated increased environmental impacts e.g. increased energy use

3.4 Determine resource or any other issues associated with implementation of alternatives

3.5 Rank alternatives based on consultation with stakeholders, feasibility analysis and resource requirements

4 Submit alternatives for approval

4.1 Document the findings from the waste avoidance review including cost-benefit analysis, and submit for approval
