an assessor resource that builds a framework for writing an assessment tool
Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).

1.2 Materials and equipment required to conduct the vehicle examination are prepared.

1.3 Other relevant motor vehicle documentation is accessed and reviewed to establish key information on the vehicle under examination.

1.4 Vehicle identity is verified.

1.5 All relevant vehicle structure and components are examined and tested as necessary.

1.6 Occupational health and safety requirements applicable to the examination are applied.

1.7 Vehicle irregularities are recorded in accordance with legislative requirements and standard procedures.

2. Interpret examination data

2.1 All relevant data/ information is gathered, recorded and confirmed.

2.2 All relevant information is interpreted and analysed to assist in the identification of the issue/s.

3. Undertake technical research

3.1 Relevant standards and specifications are identified and accessed.

3.2 Research is undertaken on all the information gathered relevant to the examination.

3.3 Advice is sought to clarify any unclear findings in accordance with organisational policy and procedures.

3.4 Research findings are reported and presented in appropriate language, style and format to suit the intended audience.

3.5 Supporting information and explanations are provided as required.

4. Form and provide an opinion

4.1 Options related to the provision of advice are identified and evaluated.

4.2 An opinion is formed that is logical, reasoned and defensible, and documented in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures.

4.3 When appropriate, opinions on actions to be taken are offered.

4.4 A comprehensive report supporting the opinions is provided.
