Unit Description

Assessment Tool
an assessor resource that builds a framework for writing an assessment tool
Assessment Template
generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment. Put student names in the top row and check them off as they demonstrate competenece for each of the unit's elements and performance criteria.
Assessment Matrix
a slightly different format than the assessment template. A spreadsheet with unit names, elements and performance criteria in separate columns. Put assessment names in column headings to track which performance criteria each one covers. Good for ensuring that you've covered every one of the performance criteria with your assessment instrument (all assessement tools together).
Wiki Markup
mark up the unit in a wiki markup codes, ready to copy and paste into a wiki page. The output will work in most wikis but is designed to work particularly well as a Wikiversity learning project.

Observation Checklist

A form for students to assess thier current skill levels against each of the unit's performance criteria. Cut and paste into a web document or print and distribute in hard copy.
Moodle Outcomes

1. Prepare for plant operation

1.1. Access, interpret and apply compliance documentation relevant to the work activity

1.2. Identify shift requirements from the previous shift report and instructions relating to plant operations

1.3. Interpret and confirm shift operational plan with the supervisor according to mine procedures

1.4. Communicate with all relevant personnel before commencement of operations

1.5. Carry out pre-start check of all equipment

2. Control plant operations

2.1. Start-up equipment and close down completely or partially in the sequence necessary to avoid damage/spillage

2.2. Monitor and control plant processes to maintain shift plan and optimise coal stocks/coal quality and overburden removal

2.3. Monitor location and availability of all personnel within the mine

2.4. Monitor and act on warning devices

2.5. Control the operation of equipment and the use of materials to minimise wastage

2.6. Implement emergency, fire and disaster situations, including control centre evacuation procedures

3. Record operational information

3.1. Report and record all information required to maintain excavation and plant operations, including oral and written reports

4. Maintain standard practices

4.1. Follow standards for safe and competent work practices

4.2. Maintain control systems security requirements

4.3. Control and monitor contractor access to mine and plant

4.4. Observe safety rules and regulations, including legislation and site-specific instructions
