Work must be carried out:

relatively independently under broad operational requirements, with accountability and responsibility for self and others in achieving the prescribed outcomes

the application of a significant range management principles across a wide and often unpredictable variety of operational contexts. Contribution to the development and implementation of a broad operations and resources management plan and an ISM Code safety management system consistent with regulatory requirements and the operational needs of the vessel is required.
