This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform advanced diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair operations in an automotive retail, service and repair environment.

Packaging Rules
To be awarded the Certificate IV in Automotive Technology, competency must be achieved in ten (10) units of competency, additional to the requirements of a relevant Certificate III automotive qualification.
one (1) core unit of competency
nine (9) elective units of competency, as specified below.
one (1) elective unit of competency from Group A
eight (8) elective units of competency from Group B, drawn from any combination of:
units not already chosen from Group A
Group B units listed
up to three (3) relevant units available in this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses, where those units are aligned to Certificate III, IV and Diploma qualifications
a maximum of two (2) elective units may be selected from units aligned to Diploma qualifications.

Where prerequisite units are identified they must be counted in the total number of units required for completion of the qualification.

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry. Credit will be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed AUR30308 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, AUR30405 Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology, AUR30611 Certificate III in Automotive Specialist, AUR30805 Certificate III in Automotive Vehicle Body or other relevant qualifications.

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR50205 Diploma of Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications.
