Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to clean, inspect and replace caul plates and screens in laminating and pressing equipment. The unit applies to production operators and technicians who maintain caul plates and screens in a forest and wood products factory setting.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: equipment used to maintain and repair caul plates and screens: chemical or heat treatment baths polishing table and machinery hand-held tools machinery containing caul plates and screens caul plates screens transport plates personal protective equipment suitable for maintaining and repairing caul plates and screens manufacturers’: safety data sheets for chemicals instructions for equipment use recommendations for cleaning and repairing equipment work order with specific instructions for maintenance of caul plates and screens in designated equipment template documents for recording process outcomes and equipment faults relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information organisational procedures for maintaining and repairing caul plates and screens. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.
