Application

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to remotely check gas station conditions, perform minor changes and report the status in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, regulations and workplace procedures.

It includes checking and reporting on gas station condition remotely and completing relevant documentation.

Gas stations could include metering, compressors, valves, regulators, heaters, scraper, telemetry and odourisation facilities.

This unit is applied in accordance with the procedures in relevant industry standard for Pipelines - Gas and liquid petroleum - Operation and maintenance.

Work schedules, specific job requirements, drawings, plans, requirements, workplace procedures and material and equipment are identified, examined and the extent of preparation for work activities are determined

WHS/OHS policies and workplace procedures and safe work practices are followed to eliminate or minimise risk of harm from incidents and hazards

First aid and other related workplace procedures are performed in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures

Equipment faults are identified through remote checking and testing of operational equipment in accordance with work schedule and job requirements, and relevant personnel despatched to site, as required

Hazard warnings and safety signs are recognised and hazards are identified, assessed and WHS/OHS risks are reported to the authorised person/s for directions in accordance with workplace procedures

2.5

Operating conditions of equipment are monitored remotely for temperatures, gas flow and pressures in order to determine performance of equipment and pipeline

2.6

Fault-finding and troubleshooting techniques are applied to identify any repairs or maintenance that are required in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures, and relevant personnel despatched to site, as required

Solutions to non-routine problems are identified and actioned in accordance with job requirements in a manner that minimises risk to personnel and equipment

2.8

Ongoing checks of quality of work activities are undertaken in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures

Complete work and relevant documentation

3.1

Work activities undertaken are checked against works schedule for conformance with job requirements, anomalies are reported and solutions identified in accordance with workplace procedures

Incidents and injuries are reported and followed up in accordance with workplace procedures

Relevant work authorisations and permit/s are signed off in accordance with job requirements

3.4

Work activities completion records, reports as installed/modified drawing/s, documentation and relevant information is confirmed, processed and the appropriate person/s notified
