Set up and load in-line smart card machine

Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to set up, adjust and load an in-line smart card machine in preparation for production.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria

ELEMENT

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes.

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

1. Set and adjust sections of machine

1.1 All details required for the job are checked and confirmed according to job specifications

1.2 Correct materials are checked and available for the job

1.3 All light sensors and proximity sensors are operating

1.4 Mills are set to right cavity depth for chips

1.5 Tape indexer and die are cleaned and chip registration is correct

1.6 Implanting module is set up and registered and adhesives are available and dispenser is clean and ready

1.7 Machine and in-line components are initialised

2. Confirm computer settings

2.1 Encoder settings are correct and conform to job specifications

2.2 Tester settings are correct and conform to job specifications

2.3 Setting on the computer that controls entire machine is correctly set

4.4 Cards are loaded according to WHS requirements and manufacturer’s specifications and enterprise procedures

4.5 Settings are checked according to job specifications before production starts

4.6 Work area is safe and ready for production according to safety requirements

Evidence of Performance

Evidence of the ability to:

correctly set up and adjust an in-line smart card machine and load it in preparation for production in accordance with job specifications and listed performance criteria

demonstrate all safety devices on the machine.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Evidence of Knowledge

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

describe production quality requirements

explain waste disposal procedures for faulty material and procedures for correct handling of material

explain important features of the smart card printing and encoding machine

explain principles of printing and ink usage.

Assessment Conditions

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the converting, binding and finishing field of work and include access to:

special purpose tools

smart card printing and encoding machine.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
