- Prepare to assist construct and lay a service to a main
- WHS/OHS and environmental measures and procedures for the site are identified, accessed and understood.
- Relevant requirements and established procedures for the site are provided and discussed with supervisor to establish and confirm the work schedule.
- Hazards are identified and reported to the supervisor to assess the risks and implement control measures according to established procedures
- Scope of work and responsibility under the relevant work permit and/or relevant notification is received and confirmed with supervisor according to requirements and established procedures
- Equipment, plant, tools and personal protective equipment needed to construct and lay gas services are identified, obtained and checked for operation and safety.
- Supervisor is consulted to ensure the work is carried out effectively with others involved
- Materials, plans, diagrams, drawings and resources required to construct and lay gas services are received in accordance with established procedures
- Relevant responsibilities associated with safety and emergency procedures for an incident at the worksite are checked and confirmed with supervisor.
- Third party issues are referred to the supervisor in accordance with established procedures.
- Site preparation, safety plan and the work schedule are confirmed with supervisor in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist in the construction and laying of a service to a main
- WHS/OHS risk control measures, schedule of work and standard operating procedures for carrying out the work are followed
- Appropriate materials, tools, equipment and measuring devices are selected and used correctly and safely.
- Hazardous activities such as lifting, climbing, working in excavations, trenches and use of power tools, techniques and practices are conducted safely in accordance with given instructions and to requirements.
- Assistance in preparing the excavation for laying of pipe is provided according to appropriate standards and procedures
- Assistance in constructing and laying of gas services is provided according to appropriate standards and procedures
- Work is carried out efficiently, to the required standard without waste of materials or damage to apparatus, equipment, the surrounding environment or services and using sustainable energy principles.
- WHS/OHS risks, incidents, accidents and non-routine events are reported to the supervisor according to established procedures
- Routine quality and safety checks are carried out in accordance with work instructions
- Complete the work and relevant documentation
- WHS/OHS risk control work completion measures and procedures are followed.
- Supervisor is notified of completion of the work according to established procedures.
- Tools, equipment and any surplus resources and materials are cleaned, checked and securely stored
- Work site is tidied and made safe in accordance with established procedures
- Relevant work documentation is completed and provided to the supervisor in accordance with established procedures
